EXERCISE

  • Exercise is something almost everyone participates in at some point in life.

  • Whether it be playing sports, lifting weights, taking your dog on a walk, or even doing yard work, we are positively stressing our bodies with different forms of exercise.

  • There are some reasons that people don't exercise, or stop doing it all together.

  • There are different reasons why people drop out of exercise programs, but studies show that usually it has to do with motivational rather than behavioral factors (3).

  • A study found that intention and self-efficacy are both important factors when predicting exercise adherence (3).

  • External motivation factors are also found to be more important than internal motivation factors when it comes to exercise adherence (3).

  • An important point mentioned as well was that the exercise environment, at home or in a gym, and the persons preference for that environment plays a large role in an individuals exercise adherence (3).
